I’d like to introduce you to the new Haven Local website! I’m Tam Fuard, chef and owner of Haven Local, a seasonal prepared food store coming to the wonderful community of Elkins Park, PA this summer.
I’ve spent years in the food industry working across various concepts: from a humble Jewish delicatessen, to a trendy chicken & waffle joint, and most recently an upscale New American restaurant in the heart of Philadelphia. I’m also a husband and father! Nothing gives me more pleasure than cooking with my family (as you can see, my newborn son already has some serious baking skills). These new roles in my life give me a different perspective of what people need when it comes to food.
Most of us identify as foodies but don’t always have a neighborhood haunt to try local and seasonal ingredients. I can relate! Upon moving to Elkins Park, I craved a city-style restaurant fix delivered to my home. Unfortunately, my options were mostly big box supermarkets and fast food operations. This brought limited value to my community and palette. I realized what was missing at that moment: a more balanced approach to food that tackled both convenience and great quality.

With Haven Local, I am putting my stamp on what a modern food business looks like. The concept draws from my diverse experience as well as what my local culinary landscape is missing.
